This room witnessed tragic scenes during the civil war that led to the collapse of the Caliphate. The caliph Alí Ibn Hammud (1016-1018 A.D.), of Moroccan origin, was assassinated here by three of his slaves. Also, the Umayyad caliph Abd al-Rhman V was captured and executed in this room on 17th January 1024 A.D. The rebels raided the palace because of an existing unrest in Cordoba due to the preferential treatment received by the African troops quartered in the city.
