Pieces of the eraI and the Almohad caliphate (3 of 5)

1. - This piece is a fragment of a plaster lattice from the 11th Century. The lattice was part of a glass window which decorated the Taifa hall.
2. - This piece is a plastering fragment of the 11th Century. It is the only thing that remains from a plaster cusped arch, part of the decoration of the hall during the Taifa era, well-known for the proliferation of plaster fretwork.
3. - This piece is a ceramic fragment of the 12th Century. Ceramic was used by all social classes at that time. This fragment is decorated with geometric, epigraphic and floral stamped designs.
4. - This other ceramic fragment is from the 12th Century. It has green glazed earthenware and stamping decoration with geometric and epigraphical designs. Green was the colour of Islam, and therefore it was chosen as a prevailing colour to decorate luxury pottery, also known as manganese green pottery. This technique was also used as a means of waterproofing the piece.
